If you are considering purchasing a vegetable chopper you should be aware of the option to buy a non electric chopper
A non electric chopper or vegetable dicer has a number of benefits over an electrical chopper. First of all you can take it with you into places that do not have an electrical power such as your garden, where you are having a BBQ party without having to worry about a power supply.
A manual chopper will normally be cylindrical having a wave shaped blade and a handle at the top that you will use to operate the blade. Some models have a lid at the bottom so there is no need for a chopping board. Other models may have a cup at the bottom to catch the chopped food.
A manual non electric chopper has no need for a power supply, is usually quite small and typically does not weigh very much making it a great utility to take if you going camping.
In addition a non electric chopper has no electrical motor so there are fewer parts to go wrong. On the other hand an electric chopper has many parts that are operating at high speeds which over a period of time can wear out. A manual non electric chopper does not have this problem as the moving parts move slower as you are operating the handle. So if you buy a good make of the non electric chopper you have a good chance to get a more reliable vegetable chopper and a sturdier one.
Using a non electric chopper does not mean you lose the benefits of an electrically powered vegetable chopper or cutter, quite the opposite and in some cases a non electric chopper or blender can sometimes be used to better effect.
An electrical chopper or blender uses a motor, whereas a manual non electric vegetable cutter uses a handle to chop, dice and cut your vegetables – giving you greater control over how the finished food looks and even tastes.
Another reason for considering a non electric hand operated vegetable chopper is that you are not wasting any electricity while operating it. This is good for you as a consumer and is better for the environment.
So, in spite of our tendency as consumers to mostly use electrically operated kitchen devices, it could be a good to consider purchasing a non electric chopper instead.
Just make sure you are buying it from a reputable company, be it in a retail location or online.
