I’m 17 years old and have been educated in one of the best schools in the country for the past 6 years. I got three A’s and a B in my AS level exams and am predicted 3 A’s next year.
I’m most probably going to go to university to study english or history to a degree level, however, this is only to appease my father and justify the school fees he has spent on me.
My real desire is to learn to be a chef, i’ve had an aptitude for cooking from a early age and i’ve always loved to experiment with flavours, ingredients and make tasty food for my family and friends to try.
I’ve watched hundreds upon hundreds of cooking programs (not the rubbish celebrity chef kind however) and am thoroughly interested in every aspect of cooking from, the technical abilities required inside a kitchen to the actual method of cooking e.t.c.
All i want to do is learn to become a chef, and eventually work in a good london restaurant, its my passion and although i’m currently forced to do otherwise, this is what i really want to do.
I fully realize that , i will have to start from the bottom e.g. dish washer , vegetable chopper e.t.c. but i am completely prepared to do this and to do anything i’m told in the kitchen environment.
If anyone knows of anyway or anywhere i could go to get involved in this or has any tips , i would appreciate them greatly.
Thanks ,peace
Hari
I don’t live in an urban area, so the rush isn’t so bad. We go to a Super Wal-Mart 20 mins from where I love in a town on 3,500. It was pretty crowded, and I was a little squished, but no fighting, pushing, shoving, or trampling goes on there. Then we go 45 mins away to a larger place which has Target, Circuit City, Malls, Hastings, K-Mart etc. Still not a huge trampling camp out type place. Went with my mom and got things for sister, bro, etc. I got a Digital Camera, DVDs, DVDs, DVDs, 2GB Philips MP3, 2 2GB SD for , 0 8GB Zune (not on sale), Sims 2 Deluxe, Wireless Mouse, Two Nintendo DS games, Fly Pentop Computer, FM Transmitter, 50% Aeropstale, BOGO Am. Eagle, Lots of Fleece Pajama Pants, Vegetable Chopper, blender, and mini crock pot, CDs, Razor scooter, Lots of toys and stuff for really cheap prices, and just all around knick knacks. Those were just from the top of my head and so far I think we did pretty good, but we did better the year before last. I also saw a 6th Gen. 80GB Apple iPod for 9.
I had fun. How about you?
2.A few years ago, there was a commercial on late-night TV for a vegetable chopper. The chopper had a clear plastic container with a metal lid. The lid had a plunger through the top that was attached to a sharp set of blades. The user puts a vegetable in the container, screws on the lid, and presses the plunger rapidly to cut the vegetable into pieces. The screen demonstration showed a hand putting a beautiful red tomato into the container of the chopper, attaching the top, and rapidly chopping the tomato into perfect pieces. During the demonstration, there was a voice-over saying, “This is a green tomato. It has been painted red. Do not try this with a ripe tomato. It will burst and send pieces all over the kitchen.” Does this constitute lying?
Small enough to store in a drawer, versatile enough to chop or mince everything from garlic to walnuts to onions to herbs to, well, pretty much anything a food processor can deal with, a cinch to clean, and all this without having to plug it in, it is one of those gadgets I’d take with me to a desert island. What’s a good and cheap vegetable chopper for composting old or unused vegetables,?
I always have plenty of cucumbers, tomato, carrot, potato, squash ect from my garden thats beyond eating and perfect for the compost pile but cutting it all up with a knife becomes a chore,, I also have a worm bin that I need to somewhat finely chop vegetable waste for.
Something manual or automatic that makes quick work of this almost daily task, that won’t break the bank?
